Your kids (and you!) will enjoy this healthy chocolate smoothie! If you’re struggling to get you child to eat healthy food, smoothies are the perfect stepping stone. They taste and look like a treat, but can be packed with tons of nutrients. This healthy chocolate smoothie is one my kids ask for again and again. Sometimes we even have it for dessert! I definitely haven’t spoiled the fun by telling them how good it is for their growing bodies! Cacao powder is full of antioxidants and magnesium. The cashews pack a protein punch and they are full of heart-healthy fats and numerous minerals and vitamins. Add some probiotic power for gut health and you’ve got one powerhouse of smoothie.
Healthy Chocolate Smoothie
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup cashews
- 1.5 Tbsp cacao powder
- 4 pitted dates
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- pinch of probiotic powder optional
Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Start on a low speed and work you way up to high over about 30-40 seconds.
If you don't have a high speed blender, try soaking the cashews and dates for a few hours for a creamier smoothie.
