Day 4: The Almond Butter and Jelly smoothie was a huge hit with the kids! They loved it and it was fully of protein to fuel their school day. We’ll definitely be making it a staple. The Chicken Noodle Soup was loved by everyone (hooray!), but my whole wheat biscuits turned out more like fluffy cookies (except not sweet….). I’ll have to try tweaking that recipe.
Day 5: After school snacks are quickly becoming apples and PB, ants on a log, nuts, fruit, and popcorn! I’m loving this, because as I mentioned before my kids used to eat crackers, pretzels, basically anything readily accessibly in the cupboard….and unfortunately sugar laden.
My son is feeling tired again today (remember he was that way on Day 3?) and both my kids slept in this morning. Have no idea if it’s related to sugar, but would be happy if that trend continues. My son has also been begging for sugary items regularly. This whole sugar free month was for him to break his sugar addiction…so I really do hope he’s starting to detox.
We ended up at Qdoba after swimming lessons tonight. I ordered the kids rice bowls. The brown rice has added sugar, the white rice does not……what to do, what to do. We ended up going with the white rice, beans, guac, cheese, and pico. I had lettuce instead of rice.
